Destination Yosemite: Getting To The Yosemite National Park

This page provides information about getting to the Yosemite National Park

You can get their either by bus or car from one of the close by airports below. If you rent a car make sure that your car is reliable because of high elevation and wining routes. Note: Make sure you carry tire chains if you come to the area between November and April.

Fresno-Yosemite International (FAT) About 2.5 hours south of Yosemite Valley, via Highway 41

Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC) About 4.30 hours to Yosemite Valley, via I-880, I-680, I-580, Highway 120.

Los Angels International Airport (LAX) About 6 hours to Yosemite Valley, via I-5 to Highway 99 to Highway 41.

Oakland International (OAK) About 4 hours west of Yosemite Valley, via Highway 120.

Sacramento International (SMF) About 4 hours northwest of Yosemite Valley, via Highway 120.

San Francisco International (SFO) About 5 hours west of Yosemite Valley, via Highway 120.

 

Bus and Train service

Visitors can ride Yosemite Area Regional Transportation System (YARTS) or VIA Adventures buses from gateway communities outside the park into Yosemite Valley. YARTS buses also connect with Amtrak and Greyhound service in Merced.

Amtrak provides a combination of train and bus service to Yosemite Valley.
