Trex450S CF Review

By HeliTown.COM

Introduction

You've heard about Horizon Hobby's Almost Ready to Fly (ARF) Trex450SA and now Align has released an ARF version of its own. It is Trex450S CF. This version of Trex450 comes with everything the Trex450 SA kit does and more. It comes with CF frames (top and bottom) instead of the alum frames unlike Trex450SA, 325 CARBON blades, Align Out-runner 430L with fan, Align RCE-BL35X with heat-sink and 85% factory assembled. Note: a Trex450SA kit is 100% assembled. This would still save you some time if you don't have much time to put the kit together but it will still require you to put the assembled pieces together so you can learn the anatomy of the helicopter while doing it.

 Trex450 CF Specifications

  • Height:228mm(9.0 in)

What is in the Box?

Trex450 S (CF) items in the box include:

  • Two CF Frame bags - both top and bottom in two separate plastic bags - factory assembled
  • Landing skid bag - two white plastic landing skids, two grey alum skid pipes and four soft skid nuts
  • Head assembly - factory assembled
  • Tail assembly bag - 1 tail assembly (half assembled) white plastic vertical and horizontal fins and drive belt
  • Tail boom bag - 1 alum tail boom, two boom supports, tail servo mount, flybar, flybar paddles and flybar control
  • Maim gear bag - unassembled main gear, 12 T pinion and 13 T pinion
  • Motor mount bag - chrome motor mount, anti rotation bracket
  • Ball link bag - all links and linkage rod sets
  • Motor box - Align out-runner 430L brush-less motor, Align RCE-BL35X ESC, connectors, motor owner manual and ESC owner manual
  • Blade holder
  • While plastic canopy, tinted windshield, and decal
  • Extra screw part bag - it is very nice that Align includes the extra screws for those who always loose screws like me.
  • Thread lock bag - R48 (metal tubular adhesive), T43(thread lock), hook & fastening tape
  • Tool bag - 3 hexagon screw drivers and two Philips screw drivers
  •  Blade bag - 325 CARBON blades
  • Owner manual. It is good that the owner manual provides instructions for assembling the kit from scratch - not just from the assembled pieces. That will help when parts of the helicopter need to be reassembled later for fixing or upgrading.
  • There is an addendum (drop filed) containing a chart providing recommendations of ESC option selections and power collocation suggestion of motor gear, rotor blade, pitch current (A), throttle curve and RPM to use with the provided BL430 3550KV.
