Comparison with Esky Lama and Blade CX1

As there are many other similar coaxial helis, I decided to compare the Dynam Vortex heli with Esky Lama and Blade CX1 so that you can see the differences between these three helis.

As you can see, Dynam Vortex and Esky Lama are very similar with one another in terms of specifications. They use similar 4-in-1 receiver, FM 4 – channel transmitter, battery, motors, etc. So if you ask if some of these components can be used on another heli, I would say there is a good possibility they can be. I will share with you later if I have opportunity to replace some of the Dynam Vortex heli’s parts with Esky Lama’s and Blade CX1's. Blade CX2 now comes with the DSM 5-channel 2.4GHz transmitter and receiver. Some discussions in RC helicopter forums now have showed that Vortex motors can be used on Esky Lama II and 4 in 1 in Blade CX1 and reported to be better in performance.

Plus and Minus

Here are some of the things I would include in the plus and negative sides. Remember that this is my personal opinions based on the model, flights and information I have so far:

Plus Side

  • Price is very reasonable compared to other comparable coaxial helis
  • Real scale looking body is very attractive
  • Easy to set up and adjust
  • Easy to fly for beginners
  • True RTF
  • All parts and electronic components seem to be in good quality

Minus Side

  • The front canopy is too thin and fragile - easy to crack
  • Battery connector wire should be just a little bit longer for easy connecting
  • Replacement parts are not yet available at LHS (at least where I live )

Final thought

All the items in the minus side are really minor and they can be remedied easily. Knowing that every RC heli in the market has its strengths and weaknesses, this heli is standing out pretty well among others. It is a true RTF helicopter – all you need are 8 AA Alkaline batteries for the transmitter.  The look and price make this heli a good choice for both beginners or advanced who want something small to entertain indoor and in a small room. I don’t have any problem to recommend those who are contemplating a coaxial RC in this range to check into the Dynam Vortex heli and include it as one of the options when you are making your final decision. BPHobbies carries both kits and parts.
